In response to one reviewer's comment, Jenika, I don't know the author and I'm not related to her but I really like the book and think that the Series has a lot of potential. I find it irritating and insulting that some readers who don't like a book question the integrity and validity of the reviews of the readers who do like the book. They make no room for the fact that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion and taste is as varied as individuals. Jenika, yours is not the only opinion that honest.

Yes, the writing in the first chapter or two is a bit choppy, but the story was interesting enough that I pressed passed it and was rewarded. The plot is original and I really like the main characters especially Brock who too alpha male sexy for words. Yum! I love paranormal cozy mysteries with romance and this Series has the potential to be a really, really good one. I recommend that the author get a editor to help with her writing shortcomings as well as assisting her with catching editing errors like missing words and repetitive phrases as was present here. I took off one star for the latter. However, overall I rated the book on how much I enjoyed it despite it's obvious shortcoming, the originality of the plot, the characters, the character development, the Serie's potential, the wise pricing, and the slow progression and genuine chemistry between Brock and Jasmine. I found the book quite entertaining and I can hardly wait for the 2nd book due out next month. At .99, if you like paranormal cozy mysteries, I say buy it, read it and Enjoy. Just realize that it does have some shortcomings.

Dead Man Calling An Undertaker Mystery Undertaker Mysteries Book 1 eBook Kendra Ashe Reviews

This one was hard to finish. The entire premise is silly. A young woman inherits a funeral home from a grandfather she never knew and decides to turn it into a club with death being the obvious theme. Jazz (the main character) is running all over town trying to figure out the secret of her life while her friend is left behind to do all of the work. Of course there's the "hot" guy, the dangerous situation that she's rescued from, etc. You'll find your self thinking (repeatedly) "just how dumb is she?". For example, she's afraid of the danger she's in but never bothers to learn how to work the state of the art security system. Overall I'd say it's ok if you have nothing else to read. It want the worse book I've read.
I got this book for free after seeing it on one of my free book alerts. I did not know the author or the series but the summary made me think I would like it as I enjoy paranormal books that can make me laugh. The book was a really quick read in that I started and finished it within a few hours. It was cute; however I did not get the laughs I was expecting. Jasmine Sweeney is living her life when all of a sudden a lawyer shows up at her door and tells her that she has an inheritance (which includes a monkey) from a grandfather she never knew. From there Jasmine's (Jazz) life changes and she has to figure out the family business and the mystery of who wants her dead. There were some minor typos in the book, but they were not the distracting kind.
First, the narrator is excellent. She makes the characters come alive without overdoing the various voices. Very well done. Second, the book is fun! I was thinking it would be rather dark but the darkness is secondary to the story of Jazz finding out the truth about who she is. It was a mystery that kept me interested and entertained the whole time! The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the setup for the typical love triangle. Hoping that in future books, the author doesn't go there. I definitely recommend this book...especially the audiobook!
Jasmine inherits money from a grandfather she didn't know she had but it comes with a price and a talking monkey. As He is now the dealer who helps ghosts pass on and fights a coven of witches. There are many secrets about who she is and someone who controls whether or not she can use the money from her inheritance. She has to get permission from a biker who is also a werewolf. She learns that she was promised to him and even though she ge.advisory there is a pull between them . There are warring motorcycle gangs, witches, werewolves and other mysteries. Did her grandfather for mysteriously? I am so ready to read the next one.
Imagine finding out that you have a wealthy grandfather, and that that grandfather has died and left you everything, including his mansion and his business, a mortuary. You never knew you had a grandfather because, as you find out, your parents were disowned by him because they fell in love and married. The only reason you inherited anything at all was that you are the last of his family, and he had to make you his heir because part of your inheritance is that you are also inheriting the family curse -- you are now able to see and speak to ghosts, and your job is also to help them complete their unfinished business so they can pass on to the other side. Of course, no one tells you that this is part of the inheritance, and you have to find that out the hard way. Add to the fact that your grandfather was head of a witch's coven, and that coven wants all of his property, spell books (many written in Latin). I mean, how are you supposed to learn your new job if you can't even read how to do it. Now let's add the hilarity of also inheriting a talking monkey, a real smart-aleck.

However, all of the money is in a trust, and you must find out who the trustee is so you can get him to give up some of the money so you can change the mortuary into a club where ghost tours will be based. When you find the trustee, you can't believe he's the head of the local motorcycle gang and a real hunk to boot. He also has a very interesting secret that you feel you need to ferret out as well.

Of course, the first time you see a real ghost, it turns out to be a very recent murder victim, and you now have a family friend, who is a police detective, on your case about how you can know all these things about where the victim's body was located and how the victim was killed. You also find out that there are a few other creatures besides ghosts and witches that you will have to deal with as well. Oh, my stars!
